Pomalo, the first Croatian digital magazine dedicated to projects, change, and innovation, won second place in the category “Best Small Project” (up to EUR 1 million) at the Project Management Awards, one of the most important national recognitions in the field of project management, awarded by the Croatian Association for Project Management (IPMA Croatia).

Pomalo is a professional digital magazine that brings together knowledge in project management, change management, and innovation in one place, with the aim of strengthening project culture and increasing access to high-quality professional content in Croatia and the wider region. The project was created in response to the growing need for expert-based content that connects theory, standards, and real-world practice in project and organizational change management.

The project was initiated by Tatjana Kotarski, an experienced project manager, trainer, mentor, and founder of the company pm4you.

The vision of Pomalo is to build a relevant, professional, and inspiring platform that encourages learning, knowledge exchange, and the development of project culture within organizations and society as a whole. The project goes beyond creating a digital publication - it builds a long-term professional community and strengthens the professional identity of project managers, change leaders, and innovators.

During 2025, four thematic digital editions were published as part of the project, featuring 47 expert articles and more than 300 pages of content. All editions are available in open-access format, ensuring broad accessibility of knowledge to the professional and academic community without financial or institutional barriers. Each edition brought together between 11 and 13 authors from various industries and professional backgrounds, and all content undergoes a structured editorial and review process based on international professional standards.

The project is developed using a hybrid project management approach that combines annual planning with agile iterations for each issue, ensuring both high content quality and timely delivery. A particular value of the Pomalo project lies in building a professional community - by connecting authors, readers, and experts from different sectors, it fosters knowledge exchange, best practices, and a culture of collaboration and continuous learning.

The project’s results are visible on multiple levels. Authors and team members strengthen their professional, communication, and editorial competencies and increase their professional visibility.

The wider community benefits from open access to high-quality knowledge, strengthening project and innovation culture, while readers and subscribers receive content that directly supports more successful project delivery within their organizations. The sustainability of the project is ensured through a subscription model and clearly defined production processes.

Reaching the finals of the IPMA Croatia Project Management Awards and winning second place in the category “Best Small Project” further confirms the value of the Pomalo project, its social contribution, and its significant role in the development of the project management profession in Croatia.
